Ethnic & Natural Hair

Braids

Organic hairstyling, particularly for women with hair issues, can be a great way to take control of unruly tresses. Braids have long been the go-to option for women who want to enjoy their natural hair without having to invest a lot of styling time. Braids are the quintessential get-up-and-go hair style, and when correctly implemented, can stimulate growth. Check out our braid services below.

Ethnic Hair Therapy

Long considered one of the most beautiful and unique hair types, ethnic and multi-ethnic hair is in a class by itself. It’s varying textures, assorted porosity, and changing density makes it visually appealing to many. But sometimes it can be a challenge to manage. Ethnic hair has many variations and blends (i.e. extra curly, kinky, coarse, or multitextured hair), and statistically tends to be more prone to thinning and breakage.

Especially for those of us who’ve battled our hair for years, finding relief seems almost impossible. While there are a host of products on the market aimed at managing ethnic hair, sometimes getting to the root of the problem means involving a professional. We can give our natural hair it’s best option for growth by keeping a regimen that stimulates and energizes the hair we have. Our Ethnic Hair Therapy services are designed to address your specific hair needs, starting with an in-depth consultation and hair and scalp analysis.

Ask any woman who’s been wearing her natural hair for some time, or is just starting to transition, and the one thing she’ll admit to is that she wishes caring for her hair at home was easy. We already know hair extensions, wigs, hair pieces and custom cranial prosthetics open doors to a gorgeous crowning glory, but some days we simply want to be peace with our natural hair. We long for the days of a wash-and-wear haircut, or being able to quickly toss our locks into ponytail and be on our way. But our unruly locks, thin hair, or bald patches can make wearing our natural hair a challenge.

Or does it?

Just because we want to wear our natural hair doesn’t mean we have to live with roadblocks to a great hair day. With the right solutions, getting back to our roots can be a pleasant and fulfilling experience.

Braids

Organic hairstyling, particularly for women with hair issues, can be a great way to take control of unruly tresses.  Braids have long been the go-to option for women who want to enjoy their natural hair without having to invest a lot of styling time. Braids are the quintessential get-up-and-go hair style for ethnic women.

Cornrows  Integrates braids close to the scalp. Can be braided in various sizes (i.e. micro braids, average braids, large braids, etc). Can be done with or without hair extensions added to the braids.
Singles  Braided at the root of the natural hair, usually with hair extensions. Braided extensions can be braided to the end or left loose. Separated by small triangular or square parts.  Available as a full-head or partial service.  Braids can be then styled as requested by client.
Box Braids  Braided into Singles, but in medium to large size braids only, completed in a square or “box” parting at the scalp.
Crochet Braids  Hair is cornrowed, then hair extensions that have been “pre-twisted” or “pre-braided” are added to the cornrows using an interlocking tool.
Tree Braids  Braided into Singles, but adds 3 additional single braids onto one braid part at the root to boost volume.
Double-Strand Twists  The natural hair is braided at the root and twisted at the end. Can be done with or without hair extensions.
Faux Locks  Braided into Singles with any parting style, then Singles are wrapped with hair extensions. Mirrors “dreadlocks” in appearance.
Dreadlocks  Single braiding of the natural hair the root in triangular or square parting, then hair is twisted to form “locks” and is left to grow in this state.  New growth must be “locked” consistently every 3-6 weeks to allow dreadlocks to form. After a year, dreadlocks can be interlocked or re-twisted.
Dreadlocks Extensions  Handmade hair extensions designed to look like dreadlocks, for those who prefer not to wait the allotted time (usually one year) for actual dreadlocks to form.

Hair & Scalp Therapy

Just like women who enjoy the pampering and relaxation at salons for easy-to-manage hair, we too deserve the best options for healthy hair. We can give our natural hair it’s best option for growth by keeping a regimen that stimulates and energizes the hair we have. Treatments can be customized to address your specific hair and scalp challenges.

Revitalization   Stimulates hair growth and decreases scalp sensitivity.
Reconstructor  Repairs split ends and rebuilds damaged cuticles to stimulate growth.
Texturizer   Detangles, fortifies, and conditions hair to reduce breakage and stimulate hair mobility. Recommended as a hair treatment and/or pre-styling option.
Booster  Revives, conditions, and softens cuticle and shaft, invigorates scalp.
Straightener  Detangles, fortifies, and smooths difficult to manage hair textures. Recommended as a hair treatment and/or pre-styling option.
Medical Hair Mask  Targets scalp sensitivity and stimulates hair growth—reduces inflammation, breakage, and soothes the discomfort associated with scalp disorders. Recommended for clients under physician’s or dermatologist’s care.
The Natural Hair Care Solution  Organic, non-chemical conditioning, treatment, and styling for healthy hair management. Recommended for afro hair, multiethnic hair, and hair that is curly, coarse, or hard to control.
Thermal Styling  Uses hot tools to soften and smooth hair. Can be varied and customized to adjust to any hair texture (i.e. shampoo and blow out, flat iron, press-and-curl, curling, wanding, acid or “heat-wave” perm, straw set, etc.)
Wet Styling  Wet-based procedures (i.e. alkaline or “cold-wave” perm, wet-set, etc.)
